Structural Steel

Duplex steels originated in Sweden more than 70 years ago. It was primarily used in the sulfite paper industry. Duplex alloys are basically a compromise that has some of the ferritic stress corrosion cracking resistance along with much of the excellent formability of the common austenitic stainless alloys, all this comes at a lesser price as compared to the high nickel alloys. Duplex alloys were made for combating corrosion related problems due to chloride-bearing cooling waters along with other aggressive chemical process fluids. Duplex Steel are called so because of its mixed microstructure. Duplex steels have equal proportions of ferrite and austenite. The chemical composition of duplex steel with high contents of Cr and Mo, results in improved intergranular and pitting corrosion resistance.

Discription :

Monel Alloy is a nickel-copper solid solution strengthened alloy. The Monel Alloy is characterized by moderate strength, good weld ability, good general corrosion resistance and toughness. It is useful at temperatures up to 1000°F (538°C). Monel Alloy has excellent resistance to rapidly flowing brackish or seawater where cavitation and erosion resistance is necessary. It is particularly resistant to hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids when they are de-aerated. Monel Alloy is slightly magnetic at room temperature.

Application :

Some typical applications for alloy 400 are:
• Chlorinated solvents
• Crude oil distillation towers
• Ethyl chloride purification
• HF alkylation
• HF reboilers
• Marine components
• Marine splash zone sheathing
• MEA reboilers
• Oil well recovery pumps
• Salt production
• Salt residual compounds
• Shafting
• Wire netting for insulation

Inconel Alloy is a nonmagnetic, nickel-based high temperature alloy possessing an excellent combination of high strength, hot and cold workability, and resistance to ordinary form of corrosion.
This Inconel Alloy also displays good heat resistance and freedom from aging or stress corrosion throughout the annealed to heavily cold worked condition range.

Applications
Some typical applications are:
· Barge and tank truck liners
· Carburizing atmospheres
· Ethylene dichloride crackers
· Furnace trays, mufflers, hangers
· Gasoline stabilizer production
· MgCl2evaporates
· Phenol condensers
· Soap manufacture
· Titanium dioxide
· Vegetable and fatty acid vessels

Corrosion Resistance

The high chromium content of alloy 600 raises its oxidation resistance considerably above that of pure nickel, while its high nickel content provides good corrosion resistance under reducing conditions.
This alloy exhibits high levels of resistance to stress and salt water, exhaust gases, and most organic acids and compounds.

Discription
21Cr-6Ni-9Mn is a high manganese nitrogen strengthened, austenitic stainless steel that combines high strength in the annealed condition, excellent resistance to oxidation at high temperatures, good resistance to lead oxide and a high level of corrosion resistance at ambient temperatures. The alloy can be fabricated and formed much the same as Type 304 and 316, and is readily wieldable. It remains nonmagnetic after severe cold work.
21Cr-6Ni-9Mn has been used for chemical process and pollution-control equipment, steam and autoclave applications, and various aircraft engine components, as well as numerous other applications.

Alloy 40

Alloy 40
Carpenter Nickel 200 alloy is a commercially pure nickel that exhibits good corrosion resistance. It is ferromagnetic and has relatively low electrical resistivity. This combination of properties has allowed its use in a wide variety of applications.

Because the alloy displays good corrosion resistance, it has been used in food handling equipment, caustic solution, and general corrosion-resistant parts and structures. The magnetic and mechanical properties have enabled it to be used in devices requiring magnetic actuated parts.
The excellent combination of properties enables Carpenter Nickel alloy to be cold worked by forming and drawing. It is readily welded and will retain its properties at both sub-zero and elevated temperatures. Its low electrical resistivity has allowed its use as conducting leads and terminals in electrical and electronic components.

Because of its magnetostrictive properties (especially significant length change when magnetized), the nickels have been used in sonic devices such as sonar or for control sin ultrasonic welding.

Carpenter Nickel alloys meets the requirements of ASTM Specification B-160.
Carpenter Nickel alloy is a low carbon modification of Carpenter Nickel 200 alloy that has found applications in the electronic industry at temperatures up to 1200°F (649°C). It is preferred to Carpenter Nickel 200 alloy above 600°F (315°C), because of its better resistance to "creep."

This alloy has a low annealed hardness and very low work- hardening rate that is desirable for cold forming operations such as deep drawing, spinning, coining, etc. It has been used in corrosion-resistant equipment such as caustic evaporators, in spun anodes, combustion boats and laboratory crucibles, and electronic components where its excellent fabricating characteristics provide some advantage.
